4 outfits inspired by Phoebe Buffay’s 90’s style

Fashion / Sunday, November 3rd, 2019

Eccentric, bohemian and funny, Phoebe Buffay (Liza Kudrow) has not stopped making us laugh and surprise us throughout the 10 seasons of the Friends series. Her style was a reflection of her incongruous, ingenuous and offbeat remarks. She is the character without whom the series would really not be the same. And while the looks of Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) and Monica (Courtney Cox) have been more ingrained, Phoebe’s outfits deserve a lot of attention. For good reason, they are colorful, deeply rooted in their era and borrowed from the touch of originality that characterizes his character.

The Friends series celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, it’s an opportunity to create looks inspired by this iconic character.

Phoebe Buffay’s style

Small elements characterize Phoebe’s style. They are a good base of inspiration to create some looks:

  • A taste for dresses and long skirts
  • Print and patterns of all kinds
  • A collection of short cardigans
  • Hair accessories on original hairstyles

The interpretation of Funky Bohème

Look 1: Grunge dress and leather coat

This long dress, definitely grunge, has a repetition of small cashmere prints on the whole. It’s a sleeveless dress, with a deep V-neck. For the fall, we’ve paired it with a turtleneck sweater, and a wide leather mid-length jacket. The small bag is vintage. The set is light and grunge, in the spirit of the 90s.

Look 2 : midi skirt and denim jacket

This casual look is also ideal for mid-season. The black, mid-length and flared skirt goes with a short knit sweater and a vintage denim jacket. Originally, it’s a man’s jacket. By choosing it, we find the style of the 90’s with very wide sleeves and a comfortable fit, which allows you to wear a warm sweater underneath.

Look 3 : ethnic dress

Always with the mid-length leather jacket, this ethnic dress is fully buttoned on the front. It has short sleeves, and is tight at the chest, and wide at the level of the skirt. Light and boho.

Look 4 : Denim, mesh and faux fur

With this look, we mix materials and we combine three colors, blue, orange and purple, for a casual, warm, cozy and arty. With this look, we evoke the character’s creativity and his taste for colors.

I hope you like these looks. Thanks to Sandra who has agreed to pose for this series of photos.
